Job Description
Employment Type: Full time Shift: Rotating Shift Description: Responsible for the provision of comprehensive clinical pharmacy services for inpatients within Genesis Medical Centers. Serves as a leader for the department, organizing appropriate departmental initiatives and providing education and teaching for pharmacy colleagues, providers and trainees at all levels of practice. Has a working knowledge of the operational aspects of the department and will contribute to the overall objectives of the department as an integrated member of the pharmacy practice team. Works cooperatively with pharmacy management to maintain daily workflow, identify additional duties or change of duties that would enhance pharmacy operation and supports the direction and achievement of the hospital's short and long-range goals. The job requires some accountability for scheduling, assigning or coordinating work. Employees check the quality of work and provide guidance, instruction, training and direction to others. Although the job does not require formal or official supervisory responsibility, the incumbent serves as group leader or acts in an informal "assistant supervisory" or "lead" role. In addition, the employee may be expected to provide information or suggestions on human resources matters. Work requires limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include supplies, equipment, inventories, small budgets, and other similar material assets. The employee has a limited amount of control over these resources. The cost of errors is also limited in terms of damage, waste or financial loss. Problems associated with material resources are not complex. The volume of resources may vary, but the level of difficulty in dealing with these resources is uncomplicated. Purpose: Report To: Supervisory Responsibility: Materials Responsibility: Key Relationships POSITION SPECIFICATIONS: Co-workers/Health System Employees, Physicians/Medical Office Staff, Patients, Families, and Significant Others, Vendors/Clients Education: Bachelor's Degree Field OF Study: Pharmacy Special Training: Satisfactory completion of ASHP (Accredited Residency in Hospital Pharmacy Practice) Training Preferred: Clinical pharmacy practice setting experience; or specialized residency and/or board certification in Pharmacotherapy or other specialized field; PharmD preferred; Certification with diabetes mellitus management Licensures/Registration: Registered Pharmacist in Iowa. Pharmacist applicants obtaining their initial licensure must obtain their Iowa Pharmacist Registration within 6 months of hire. Those applicants registered in another state must obtain their Iowa Pharmacist Registration within 6 months of hire. Experience: More than 3 years' experience required. InterpersonalSkills: Interaction is with a variety of people inside or outside the organization. Communications are of moderate difficulty and sensitivity. Contact with others may involve detailed & lengthy dialogues & exchanges of information. Requires a moderate amount of interpersonal skills. Interactions involve dealing with moderately complicated problem situations or stressful encounters. Working Condition: There is limited exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable environmental conditions. There are some health and safety risks. Position may require safety equipment and precautions.
