The Pharmacy Technician supports licensed pharmacists in preparing, dispensing, and distributing medications to patients in a safe, accurate, and timely manner. This role includes maintaining inventory, processing medication orders, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The Pharmacy Technician works closely with pharmacists, providers, and healthcare staff to promote quality patient care.

How YOU can Make an Impact:

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescribed medications.

  • Accurately measure, package, and label medications according to established protocols.

  • Process medication orders using electronic health record and/or pharmacy systems.

  • Maintain inventory of medications and supplies; assist with ordering and restocking.

  • Check for expired or damaged medications and ensure proper storage conditions.

  • Provide patients or healthcare staff with instructions regarding medication use as directed by the pharmacist.

  • Assist in preparing sterile and non-sterile compounds (if certified and as permitted by law).

  • Maintain accurate records of controlled substances in compliance with DEA, FDA, and Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy requirements.

  • Support pharmacists in medication reconciliation, patient safety initiatives, and quality improvement programs.

  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and confidentiality protocols.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What we Ask of YOU:

  • A current, valid state(s) licensure, certificate and/or credentials documenting ability to practice in applicable role (i.e. CPT, CMA, LPN, RN, LMHP, etc.).

  • Registration with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician preferred.

  • National certification (e.g., CPhT - Certified Pharmacy Technician through PTCB or NHA) strongly preferred.

  • A High School diploma or GED is required.

  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Nursing, or a related field is preferred but not required.

  • 1-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a correctional healthcare or similar environment.

  • Experience in roles that involve direct patient care or administrative support in a regulated environment is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to the correctional setting is an advantage.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, adhere to protocols, and deliver high-quality service in a fast-paced, structured environment.

  • Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved).
