Category Pharmacy - Pharmacy Technician Job Type Contract This opportunity is for a skilled Pharmacy Technician to work within a hospital pharmacy unit, supporting pharmacists in delivering pharmaceutical services consistent with established protocols. The role requires adherence to safety standards, sterile compounding procedures, and collaboration across departments to ensure safe medication dispensing and management. Key Responsibilities: Assist pharmacists by preparing and filling physician medication orders, including unit dose oral, reconstituted, topical, and IV solutions. Prepare sterile intravenous, epidural, or intrathecal solutions using aseptic techniques according to compounding SOPs and regulations. Refer completed drug orders to pharmacists for final verification before dispensing. Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked pharmacy environment; monitor medication inventories and remove outdated stock. Perform daily stocking of shelves and automated dispensing machines hospital-wide. Manage crash cart trays and emergency medication boxes, and deliver medication orders to appropriate hospital floors or authorized personnel. Handle telephone triage according to department guidelines. Regularly complete competency assessments and uphold confidentiality and infection control protocols. Use proper personal protective equipment when handling hazardous materials. Assist with additional duties such as maintaining temperature logs, narcotic pulls, medication unpacking and stocking, Pyxis troubleshooting, and special projects as assigned. Qualifications and Experience: Valid Registered Pharmacy Technician certification from the Board of Pharmacy, State of Hawaii. Minimum of two years experience working in pharmacy settings such as community pharmacies, hospitals, or other medical institutions. Proficient in sterile compounding, medication preparation, and pharmacy safety protocols. Location: Waimea, HI Schedule: Days and weekends, including holidays as required. This is a 13-week contract position starting ASAP.
