As a pharmacist for our Long-Term Care Pharmacy, you will work in an exciting, dynamic and fast paced environment, ensuring the continuation of pharmacy management's goals and objectives within the dispensing pharmacy. This pharmacist will provide routine and emergency comprehensive and accurate drug screening, information, processing, and dispensing services for various drug distribution systems to the centers. We are looking for someone who has a phenomenal work ethic to provide outstanding service and to ensure that the appropriate drug product reaches the customer both efficiently and safely Job Responsibilities: Execute day-to-day operations in the pharmacy as they pertain to workflow, production quotas, and deadlines. Ensure that the pharmacy is in compliance with all local, state, and federal rules and regulations regarding the practice of pharmacy. Assist in ensuring that the pharmacy is in compliance with all DEA policies and procedures as set forth by Omnicare or the regulatory agency, whichever is stricter. Ensure that the pharmacy is in compliance with all third-party payor contract rules and regulations by which the pharmacy is bound. Maintain compliance with Omnicare SOPs and all current controlled substance laws, SOX regulation, USP 797 / 795 for sterile/non-sterile compounding, and Omnicare purchasing and formulary initiatives. Have a thorough understanding of the Omnicare Long Term Care Pharmacy/Home Infusion Pharmacy Policy and Procedure Manual and internal pharmacy policies and procedures. Supervise the pharmacy production staff to ensure proper and timely order entry, workflow, security of the pharmacy area, and adherence to delivery schedules. Check for completeness and accuracy of all new and refill labels and orders. Check for content and accuracy of all drug packaging and labeling. Check for appropriateness of therapy through prospective drug utilization review including assessment for appropriateness of therapy, high risk medications, allergies, adverse indications or interactions, and other potentially adverse outcomes Remains informed of medication storage, stability and administration requirements. Preparation and/or supervision of all sterile IV drug products or solutions and maintain all applicable required IV documentation and clinical monitoring and supervision of IV department colleagues Assist in the proper ordering, counting, handling, receiving, documentation, and storage of all controlled substances; assist in maintaining a perpetual inventory for schedule II drugs. Assist in the proper maintenance of emergency kit dispensing including ekits and Omnicells Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage during scheduled on-call rotation and as required by management. Workflow grid is cleared daily Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA. Communicates ongoing issues to Pharmacy Management Thorough knowledge of medication occurrence reporting process as well as performs drug recall surveillance and reporting Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary by location. Skills: At least two (2) years of long-term care experience Immunization certification or willingness to become immunization certified Knowledge of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacist guidelines for practice, state and federal regulations, and drug indicators for long term care centers Knowledge of all government regulations impacting upon pharmacy Education/Experience: BS Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy required Current license to practice pharmacy in good standing
