Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented pharmacy technician to support daily operations. This role involves entering new and refill prescriptions into the operating system accurately and timely to eliminate dispensing errors. The candidate will triage incoming fax prescriptions to ensure timely dispensing, ensure proper notes in the computer, and apply cycle fill coding. Additionally, calculating and verifying the correct dosage based on prescriptions, receiving, evaluating, processing, and following up with doctors' offices on all refills are essential duties. The technician will also assist with filing completed orders, packaging medications, profiling orders for medical records, and filling processed prescriptions to dispense to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Enter new and refill prescriptions into the operating system accurately and timely.
  • Triage incoming fax prescriptions to ensure timely dispensing.
  • Ensure proper notes in the computer and cycle fill coding.
  • Calculate and verify the correct dosage based on the prescription.
  • Receive, evaluate, process, and follow-up with doctors' offices on all refills assigned.
  • Develop proficiency in the utilization of all pharmacy systems, including document imaging and legacy pharmacy computer operating system.
  • Assist with filing completed orders, packaging medications, profiling orders for medical records, and filling processed prescriptions.
  • Maintain data entry records for cycle medication, fill requests, and process cycle medication orders needing renewal.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Pharmacy Technician license/certification is highly preferred.
  • Customer service focused mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to accurately and consistently process prescriptions in a timely manner.

Work Environment

This role involves working in a long-term care pharmacy, where you will fill prescriptions for nursing homes, assisted living, and group homes. The work environment includes rotating shifts with operating hours from 6am to 7pm, including a weekend rotation every fourth weekend. The location is newly moved into, offering a pleasant working atmosphere.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ankeny, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
