Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours every two weeks (Non-Exempt)
Starting Wage DOE: $17.00 - 24.60

*May be eligible for $2,500 sign on bonus*

Theincumbent in this position is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in thedelivery of quality pharmaceutical care and medication distribution aspermitted by law.

Essential Job Functions
Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinics mission,vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets allmandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency inall organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates tothe environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
Answers the telephone and assists customers seeking pharmaceutical care.Performs a variety of data entry and report generating tasks.
Assists the pharmacist with all aspects of the Billings Clinic medicationdistribution system including compounding/admixing pharmaceutical preparations,filling bottles/bingo cards with prescribed tablets/capsules, processingprescriptions and emergent prescriptions, adjudicating claims, performing pointof sale functions, proper utilization of outpatient pharmacy technology etc.
Maintains adequate medication inventories and supplies to meet dispensingneeds.
Maintains an accurate controlled substance perpetual inventory viaappropriate use of controlled substance vault or controlled substance records.
Facilitates the delivery of all pharmaceuticals to meet the needs of thecustomer/patient and ensures proper point-of-sale (POS ) processes andbalancing of POS funds and registers.
Maintains the pharmacy in a neat and organized condition.
Processes complete prescription claims including properadjudication/reconciliation, insurance verification, prior authorization, andcompassionate care/medication assistance programs associated with patientaccounts and insurance claims billing.
Enters medication charges and credits for the adjudication/reconciliation ofpatient accounts and insurance claims billing.
Participates in quality improvement activities utilizing performanceimprovement principles to assess and improve quality.
Educates and trains new pharmacy staff, students, and residents, asappropriate.
Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets allmandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agencyenvironmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to jobperformance.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of thedepartment/organization.

Minimum Qualifications

AllPharmacy Technicians, both non-certified and certified must display and provideproof of current registration with the Montana State Board of Pharmacy
All Pharmacy Technicians, both non-certified and certified, mustsuccessfully complete all required training and department/position specificcompetencies.
All Pharmacy Technicians, both non-certified and certified, mustsuccessfully maintain continuing education per board of pharmacy requirementsand produce such documentation upon request.
All Pharmacy Technicians, both non-certified and certified, must not beon the OIG exclusion list.

Pharmacy TechnicianIn Training (Non-Certified)

Highschool graduate or equivalent
Previous experience as a pharmacy technician preferred
Be eligible and registered with the State Board of Pharmacy as aTechnician-in-Training prior to the first (1st) day of employment (Board mustverify prior to first day of employment). The permit to practice as aTechnician in Training shall be good for a period not to exceed expiration dateon BOP issued license and may not be renewed.
There are application fees for Pharmacy Tech in Training and there is a renewalfee which is due June 30 of each year. Please see the Montana Board of Pharmacyweb page for more information.
Pharmacy Technicians-in-Training must pass the national certificationexam that is accepted by the Montana State Board of Pharmacy within individuallicense expiration date of original registration as a Technician-in-Trainingand then become registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the StateBoard of Pharmacy. This registration must be renewed June 30th, annually.

Pharmacy TechnicianCertified

High school graduate or equivalent and be at least 18 years old
Current Montana state certification and any national certificationapproved by the Montana State Board of Pharmacy and meet requirements tomaintain national certification which requires completion of 20 hourscontinuing education and payment of the appropriate fee every two years
Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible to maintain a BillingsClinic file that contains all orientation, training, continuing education andcompetency assessments. This file must be available upon inspection by theState Pharmacy Inspector as required by Montana State Board of Pharmacy.
