Gem Pharmacy Aide

The Gem State Public Health AmeriCorps program places community members with non-profits and public health organizations across the state in volunteer positions called AmeriCorps positions. These positions provide an education award and professional experience in a public health setting focusing service on mental health, and suicide intervention and prevention services. The opportunity is offered each year from September 1st to August 31st. The Pharmacy Aid will help increase, expand, and/or enhance health programs and services by helping patients and/or clients along with the intake process, model mental health coping skills and strategies needed for resiliency, while actively listening for indicators that the patient/client needs access to mental health resources and discreetly providing those resources to the patient. The ISU College of Pharmacy students will complete a 4-year Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree that can be completed in Pocatello, Meridian, Idaho. PharmD students may complete their fourth year at our clinical sites in Idaho (Boise, Pocatello, or Coeur d'Alene). Position Duties: -Assisting and learning how to meet Idaho residents and Idaho's public pharmaceutical needs. -Aiding in practicing pharmaceutical skills and knowledge under supervision deemed appropriate through ISU Pharmacy Program. -Aide Pharmacists with the public's pharmaceutical needs while supervised under those deemed appropriate under the ISU Pharmacy program -Hand out mental health resources to patients in need of them.
