Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia - principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. We are one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).

Piedmont Virginia Community College is seeking an innovative and collaborative individual to join the faculty as an adjunct instructor for the Pharmacy Technician Program.
The successful candidate will teach a maximum of 12 credits per semester (fall/spring), which could include day, evening and weekend, off-campus, or distance education courses.
PVCC desires applicants with a commitment to the community college mission; teaching, learning, and student success; integration of learning outcomes assessment into course development and teaching; use of current and emerging technologies to enhance instruction; and other responsibilities that contribute to the progress of the college.
The candidate must be a nationally certified pharmacy technician with at least five years of experience performing technician tasks and hold a current, unrestricted registration in Virginia or a pharmacist with a current and unrestricted license. The successful candidate must have previous experience in a pharmacy setting. The successful candidate also must possess expert-level skills and abilities necessary to train future pharmacy technicians. Must also possess knowledge of local and regional healthcare facilities and systems. Must be very detail-oriented and have the ability to meet set deadlines.
All adjunct faculty positions require excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, the ability to write syllabi and exams, the ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments, and the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
High School diploma; Associate degree in a health-related field preferred
PTCB Certification required
Five or more years pharmacy technician experience (sterile compounding a plus)
Ability to deliver instruction in the classroom, online, and in lab environments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills in both an individual and group setting
Work effectively as a team member to ensure that departmental goals are met
Ability to work in a virtual environment using multiple software programs simultaneously including MS Office programs, Canvas, Gmail, Zoom, etc.
