Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on supporting a busy pharmacy by accurately picking, labeling, scanning, and preparing prescriptions for final verification by a pharmacist. The pharmacy technician works under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to ensure medications are filled safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory and departmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently under the supervision of a pharmacist, ensuring prescriptions are prepared in a timely manner.
- Assist in processing returned medications, recycling or disposing of products according to established procedures.
- Prepack frequently ordered medications, label them correctly, and store them as needed during low-volume periods.
- Manually package materials and products to support pharmacy operations.
- Pull and pick medications from shelving units, prepack racks, and other medication storage areas as directed.
- Apply labels to blister cards and scan products to verify accuracy before final pharmacist review.
- Alert the pharmacist on duty immediately when a medication or product does not scan properly or appears incorrect.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe designated workstation area and replenish stock supplies as needed.
- Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA, to protect patient confidentiality and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Comply with departmental policies related to safety, attendance, and dress code.
- Work overtime, holidays, and weekends when required or expected to meet operational needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall pharmacy operations.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of a clear and active Georgia Pharmacy Technician License issued by the Georgia Board of Pharmacy.
- Ability to work at a moderate, consistent pace while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to follow written and verbal instructions and complete documentation.
- Capability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day and to sit or stand for approximately 7 to 10 hours per day.
- Finger dexterity to operate office and pharmacy equipment as required.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion.
- Visual acuity to see and read fine print, including close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to hear normal voice sounds to communicate effectively with pharmacists, colleagues, and other staff.
- Commitment to following HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
- Experience working in a high-volume or fast-paced pharmacy or healthcare environment is beneficial.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain an orderly workstation.
- Reliability and flexibility to work scheduled shifts, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to pharmacy procedures and technologies.
Work Environment
This position is based in a pharmacy setting that operates primarily during late afternoon and evening hours. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday from approximately 3:00 p.m. to closing, which is typically around 12:30 a.m. The role requires working every other weekend from about 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., as well as some holidays with hours similar to weekend shifts. Initial training is conducted over a two-week period from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The work environment involves standing or sitting for extended periods, frequent walking, bending, and reaching to access shelving and medication storage areas. Team members use scanning equipment, labeling tools, and standard office and pharmacy equipment to prepare prescriptions. The setting emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, and employees are expected to follow the established dress code and departmental safety policies while working in a structured, collaborative environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Macon, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
