RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurately fill, record, and deliver medication orders under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Perform computer entry for orders, billing, and posting of pharmacy charges in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain inventory systems, including ordering, stocking, and tracking expiration dates to ensure medication safety and availability.
- Support pharmacy operations by preparing IV solutions and unit-dose medications under proper supervision.
- Complete clerical duties such as workload reporting, filing, and assisting with billing documentation.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Licensed Pharmacy Technician with the State of Alaska (non-certified acceptable).Completion of a Pharmacy Technician course or at least two years of pharmacy technician experience.
- Knowledge of wholesale ordering, inventory control, and pharmacy billing systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
- Proficient with general office machines and technology, including computers, fax, and photocopiers.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills when interacting with patients, staff, and vendors.
- Physical Requirements: Light physical demands with occasional lifting up to 40 pounds; most work performed indoors.
ENVIRONMENT
The South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. Pharmacy Technicians work primarily indoors in a well-organized, supportive pharmacy setting that serves both acute and long-term care patients. Work hours may fluctuate based on patient needs and operational requirements.
Job Hazards: Potential exposure to pharmaceutical agents, cleaning chemicals, and prolonged computer use; adherence to safety procedures and use of protective equipment is required.
