Overview
Specialty pharmacy technicians are responsible for the regulatory and operational aspects of their area of practice under the direction of the pharmacist. Current inpatient areas of practice include: controlled substances, investigational drug service, medication history, oncology/IV Therapy, operating room and patient assistance. The specialty pharmacy technician spends at least 75% of their time in their area of practice. They are also responsible for assisting in the training of new personnel in their practice area. They maintain medication systems in their area of practice (as appropriate) and maintain an optimal environment for the preparation and storage of pharmaceuticals.
Qualifications
Required Education:GED or High School DiplomaPreferred Education:Graduate of accredited Pharmacy Technician training programNecessary Skills:1. Good mathematical skills2. Customer service3. Good organization and communication skills4. Ability to perform detailed tasks with accuracyRequired Licensure/Certifications:Registered Pharmacy Technician in Florida or Registered Pharmacy Intern in FloridaPreferred Licensure/Certifications:Certified Pharmacy TechnicianRequired Experience:1-2 years of technician experiencePreferred Experience:1 year of technician experience in area of specialty
