Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

This role supports a closed-door pharmacy by accurately filling prescriptions, maintaining inventory, and ensuring a clean, organized work environment. The pharmacy technician contributes directly to safe medication dispensing, adheres to quality standards and regulatory requirements, and works on a set schedule with opportunities for learning and advancement into other areas of the pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Count, seal, and label prescription cards with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Pull medications and verify that National Drug Codes (NDC) match prescription labels before filling orders.
  • Return inventory to its proper location and maintain an organized storage area.
  • Assist in the upkeep and cleanliness of each work station and the overall facility.
  • Ensure the proper and accurate filling of each individual order according to established procedures.
  • Maintain reasonable production levels as determined by the supervisor while preserving quality and safety.
  • Follow and maintain all quality assurance standards as they are provided.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining adequate stocking levels of medications and supplies.
  • Use the pharmacy computer (RX) system to support prescription processing and related tasks.
  • Complete all mandatory and regulatory training programs on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations.

Essential Skills

  • Pharmacy technician experience, with at least 6 months of experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of a pharmacy RX computer system.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate counting, labeling, and filling of prescriptions.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and quality assurance standards.
  • Ability to maintain productivity expectations while preserving accuracy and safety.
  • Organizational skills to manage inventory and keep work areas orderly.
  • Willingness to complete mandatory and regulatory training programs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Pharmacy technician experience in a closed-door or similar pharmacy setting is preferred.
  • No formal pharmacy technician certification required.
  • Interest in learning and advancing into other areas of pharmacy operations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with pharmacy staff in a structured environment.

Work Environment

This position is based in a closed-door pharmacy environment focused on efficient and accurate prescription fulfillment. The role involves working at individual work stations and within inventory areas, using a pharmacy RX computer system and standard pharmacy equipment to process and fill prescriptions. The schedule is set and includes opening, closing, and weekend rotation, providing predictable hours. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, adherence to quality and regulatory standards, and offers opportunities for learning and advancement into other areas of the pharmacy.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kenosha, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
