Responsibilities

Assists the pharmacist in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to the patient. Gathers, labels and distributes medications accurately and efficiently. Packages, prepares and safely compounds medications including hazardous substances accurately and efficiently. Handles, manages and distributes controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements and department policies; and assists with drug diversion surveillance. Accurately performs the duties of a Tech-Check-Tech Pharmacy Technician if qualified. Assists with training new pharmacy staff. Assists with maintaining accurate medication inventories and billing of medications. Effectively communicates utilizing established systems and processes. Performs responsibilities and duties of the job in a manner that is attentive to age and ability considerations.

Qualifications

Completion of an approved vocational Pharmacy Technician training program and at least six months of applicable experience as a Pharmacy Technician; or at least eighteen months of applicable experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

Other Requirements: Effectively reads, writes, speaks and understands English. Proven history of effectively performing technical tasks and following written / verbal instructions. Able to apply math and calculator skills along with a working knowledge of the metric system. Possess strong telephone and verbal communication skills. Experience with the use of office software computer applications and keyboarding. Demonstrated ability to work in a busy environment and pay attention to detail. Proven organizational and problem solving skills. Proven ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment.
Completion of post-secondary education preferred. No history of drug abuse or misuse; or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program is required.

License/Registration : Current registration with the Board of Pharmacy where required by state regulation. National Pharmacy Technician Certification

$22.73 - $32.26 / hour; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
