Family Circle of Care is expanding pharmacy services and is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused PRN Pharmacist to join our growing team. The PRN Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of medications while delivering exceptional patient care and clinical support. This position serves as a trusted medication expert, providing counseling, conducting medication reviews, supporting pharmacy staff, and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations.
QualificationsRequired:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy
- Current Texas Pharmacist License in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) (required before or shortly after hire)
- Strong clinical knowledge and professional judgment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Review prescriptions for accuracy, safety, interactions, contraindications, and therapeutic appropriateness.
- Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, storage, and potential drug interactions.
- Provide medication therapy management and patient education to improve health outcomes.
- Conduct drug utilization reviews and collaborate with prescribers when concerns arise.
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care with professionalism and empathy.
- Provide guidance and support to pharmacy technicians and support staff.
- Foster a collaborative, positive, and service-focused work environment.
- Partner with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Support onboarding, training, and development of pharmacy team members.
- Serve as a clinical resource for medication-related questions and concerns.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations.
- Support adherence to Family Circle of Care policies and 340B program requirements.
- Ensure appropriate documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and workflow enhancements.
- Monitor and address discrepancies, unusual utilization trends, and audit findings.
- Verify prescription preparation and dispensing accuracy.
- Oversee proper medication storage, labeling, and handling procedures.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, and reconciliation activities as needed.
- Promote medication safety and help prevent dispensing errors.
- Ensure operational excellence and compliance during each shift.
- This is a PRN (As Needed) position with hours based on operational needs.
- Schedule flexibility is required, including the ability to assist with short-notice coverage.
- May provide support across Family Circle of Care pharmacy locations.
- When serving as the pharmacist on duty, assumes responsibility for the safe and compliant operation of the pharmacy.
- Ensures all pharmacy activities meet regulatory requirements and Family Circle of Care's standards of excellence.
- Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods.
- Frequent use of computers, telephones, pharmacy equipment, and dispensing systems.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Frequent reaching, bending, and repetitive hand movements.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
