Pharmacy Technician

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting pharmacy operations, assisting patients, maintaining medication inventory, and ensuring prescriptions are processed accurately and efficiently. Position Summary
The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in providing safe, efficient, and high-quality pharmacy services. Responsibilities include prescription processing, inventory management, patient assistance, transaction processing, and maintaining compliance with all state, federal, and organizational regulations.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current Texas State Board of Pharmacy, Pharmacy Technician Certification
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of pharmacy operations and pharmaceutical terminology
Preferred:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
Key Responsibilities
Patient Service & Support
- Greet and assist patients with pharmacy-related questions and services.
- Provide outstanding customer service to patients, providers, and team members.
- Answer appropriate non-drug-related questions and direct clinical inquiries to the pharmacist.
Prescription Processing
- Receive and process prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
- Enter patient and prescription information into pharmacy systems.
- Verify prescription completeness and maintain accurate records.
- Assist with dosage calculations and pharmacy-related data entry under pharmacist supervision.
Inventory Management
- Receive, verify, stock, and organize medications and supplies.
- Monitor inventory for expired, damaged, or recalled medications.
- Assist with ordering, returns, inventory reconciliations, and cycle counts.
- Support compliance with 340B program requirements and pharmacy regulations.
Dispensing Support
- Prepare, label, and package prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Organize completed prescriptions for pharmacist verification and patient pickup.
- Maintain clean, organized, and efficient dispensing workstations.
Operational Duties
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist with patient coordination.
- Utilize Epic EHR and pharmacy management systems.
- Process payments and maintain accurate cash drawer balances.
- Assist with daily reconciliation and deposit preparation.
Compliance & Quality
- Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Follow all Texas State Board of Pharmacy, federal, state, and Family Circle of Care policies.
- Support pharmacy quality, safety, and regulatory initiatives.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Frequent use of computers, calculators, telephones, and pharmacy equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
