Overview:

Sentara is hiring a Full-time IV Pharmacy Technician for the Inpatient Pharmacy at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge, VA.

Location: Northern Virginia Medical Center- Woodbridge, VA

Status: Full-Time

Shift: Rotating , 8-hour shifts

Hours: 7 am - 3:30 pm, 12:30 pm - 9 pm, 2 pm - 10:30 pm

Weekend: every other weekend

Holiday: Rotation

The Pharmacy Tech II Clinical performs the technician responsibilities of clinical pharmacy care delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. This position works in a Sterile IV room for IV mixtures and sterile compounding.

  • Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area

  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently defined areas of pharmacy practice competently

  • Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced clinical job positions

  • Participates in the training of new employees

  • Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner

  • Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care

  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed

  • Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information

  • Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements

  • Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately

  • Participates in clinical initiatives to continuously improve patient care

  • Training in an advanced Clinical Pharmacy Technician job function

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned

  • A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Certification/Licensure

  • Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)

  • CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB (Required)

Experience

  • 2 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required)

  • 1 Year IV or Sterile Compounding Experience (Preferred)

  • Inpatient Pharmacy Tech Experience (Preferred)
