Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in supporting licensed pharmacists with the safe preparation, distribution, and management of medications in a fast-paced healthcare environment in Fairfield, OH. This position focuses on accurate prescription processing, inventory oversight, administrative support, and high-quality patient service while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory and safety standards. Responsibilities
- Assist licensed pharmacists in accurately filling prescriptions in accordance with established procedures and under appropriate supervision.
- Measure, count, and package medications according to prescription guidelines and pharmacy protocols.
- Affix correct labels to medication containers, including dosage instructions and safety warnings, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Input prescription and patient information into pharmacy software systems with a high level of accuracy.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient records in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Monitor medication stock levels and coordinate with suppliers or internal teams to ensure adequate inventory.
- Conduct regular inventory checks, including rotating stock to prevent expired medications from remaining in active inventory.
- Safely dispose of expired, damaged, or recalled medications in accordance with regulatory and organizational policies.
- Greet patients in a courteous, professional manner and respond to questions or concerns within the scope of the role.
- Assist patients with prescription drop-off and pick-up processes, ensuring efficient and accurate service.
- Perform routine checks on pharmacy equipment and storage conditions to support safe and effective operations.
- Participate in quality control activities, including monitoring expiration dates and maintaining cleanliness standards.
- Support a clean, organized, and compliant work environment that meets all regulatory and safety requirements.
- Follow all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines related to pharmacy operations and controlled substances.
- Adhere to safety protocols for handling medications and hazardous materials, including proper storage and disposal.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and other team members to ensure smooth daily workflow and excellent patient care.
- Experience in a retail pharmacy or healthcare setting is advantageous and supports success in this role.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Familiarity with pharmacy terminology and common prescription abbreviations.
- Understanding of pharmacy laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to medication handling and patient confidentiality.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and clear information exchange.
- Proficiency in basic math for tasks such as counting, measuring, and verifying medication quantities and dosages.
- Comfort working with pharmacy software systems and electronic health records (EHR) to enter and retrieve data accurately.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of prescription preparation and data entry.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information appropriately.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods during the shift.
- Capability to lift up to 40 pounds as needed for inventory and stocking tasks.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient for reading prescriptions, labels, and handling small medication items.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of a state-approved pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
- Current registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician is required or must be obtained in accordance with state regulations.
- Prior experience working in a pharmacy or broader healthcare environment is beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting while managing multiple tasks and priorities.

This role is based in a pharmacy setting in Fairfield, OH, within a fast-paced healthcare environment that emphasizes accuracy, safety, and patient-centered service. The work involves standing for extended periods, handling medications, and performing inventory tasks that may require lifting up to 40 pounds. Shifts generally fall within the following hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., and potentially 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., depending on operational needs. The pharmacy uses pharmacy software and electronic health record (EHR) systems to manage prescriptions and patient information, and team members work in a clean, organized, and regulated environment that follows strict safety and compliance protocols.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
