Responsible for medication orders and dispensation. Pharmacists process prescriptions in computer systems, prioritize supply shipments, manage inventory, and ensure that all practices regarding medications and their distribution comply with laws and regulations. Depending on the work environment, they may administer vaccinations, prepare compounded medications and IVs, or perform complex dose calculations.
Pharmacists must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, as they frequently work with a team and interface directly with patients. They counsel clients in regards to their prescriptions and provide clinical information to physicians or other healthcare professionals.
