Scripps Mercy Hospital has served central and downtown San Diego since 1890 and is the oldest medical center in the county. The San Diego campus is located near the corner of 5th Avenue and Washington Street in Hillcrest.
Scripps Mercy Hospital consists of two campuses in San Diego and Chula Vista.
Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego's campus includes the O'Toole Breast Care Center, a 24-hour emergency room that is a Level I Trauma Center, outpatient physical rehabilitation, minimally invasive robotic surgery and our childbirth unit (including a Level II neonatal intensive care unit).
This is a full-time position with 10-hour shifts supporting inpatient chemotherapy at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego, Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista, Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.

Scripps Cancer Center offers advanced chemotherapy services throughout San Diego County, both at our hospitals and chemotherapy infusion centers. The Pharmacist Specialist will be responsible for providing oncology expertise in the review of chemotherapy orders and treatment plans for our hospitals in Hillcrest, Chula Vista, La Jolla and Encinitas . This position is ideal for a pharmacist experienced in oncology, looking to grow and work with the best in healthcare.
The Oncology Pharmacist Specialist will:
- Be experienced in chemotherapy preparation, assessment of treatment plans and supportive care plans.
- Oversee technicians and preparation of chemotherapy and other IV products as well as the day to day operational work within the oncology infusion centers.
- Review chemotherapy regimen and will be confident in interaction with physicians to discuss treatment plan.
Required Qualifications:
- BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D. Degree
- PGY1 and PGY2 residency in area of specialty or related specialty OR PGY1 and 2 years' practice experience in area of specialty or related specialty OR 5 years' experience in area of specialization.
- California Pharmacist License.
- AHA BLS for the health care provider
- Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) or other nationally accredited certification required within 2 years' of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a multi-site health system pharmacy enterprise.
- Teaching certificate and/or experience precepting students and residents.

Position Pay Range: $82.50-$105.60/hour
