Job Title: Pharmacy Floor Technician
Job Description
The Pharmacy Floor Technician prepares prescription orders for final pharmacist verification by accurately picking, labeling, scanning, and packaging medications in a high-volume fulfillment environment. This role supports daily pharmacy operations by maintaining workflow efficiency, ensuring compliance with regulations, and upholding high standards of accuracy and safety.
Responsibilities
- Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently under the supervision of a pharmacist, ensuring timely completion of all assigned prescriptions.
- Pick medications from shelving, prepack racks, and other medication storage areas according to prescription requirements and established procedures.
- Apply labels to blister cards and scan products to verify accuracy, immediately alerting the pharmacist on duty if any medication or product does not scan properly.
- Assist in processing returned drugs, including recycling or disposing of medications in accordance with established procedures and regulations.
- Prepack frequently ordered medications during low-volume times, label and store them appropriately to support efficient order fulfillment.
- Manually package materials and products to prepare completed prescriptions for final pharmacist verification and shipment.
- Maintain designated workstation areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition, replenishing all stock and supplies as needed to support continuous workflow.
- Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA, to protect patient privacy and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code at all times.
- Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required or expected to meet operational and patient care needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall pharmacy operations and team objectives.
Essential Skills
- Active Pharmacy Technician license issued by the Illinois Board of Pharmacy.
- National Certified Pharmacy Technician credential.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician.
- Strong pharmacy fulfillment experience, including prescription filling and order processing.
- Proficiency in pharmacy-related data entry with strong attention to accuracy.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time while performing repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as part of daily duties.
- Ability to work at a moderate speed while handling high-volume orders without sacrificing accuracy.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to follow instructions and process prescription information.
- Working knowledge of pharmacy operations, including filling, labeling, and packaging medications.
- Basic computer skills to operate pharmacy systems and scanning equipment effectively.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) designation.
- Experience working in a high-volume mail-order or fulfillment pharmacy setting.
- Demonstrated reliability in attendance and adherence to departmental policies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with pharmacists and other team members in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain an orderly workstation.
Work Environment
This role is based in a high-volume pharmacy fulfillment facility where you will spend most of your shift standing, walking between shelving and storage areas, and performing repetitive tasks such as picking, labeling, scanning, and packaging medications. The standard schedule runs from 5:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., with every other weekend shifts from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and includes a 10% shift differential added to the base pay rate. You may be required to work overtime, holidays, and weekends to support operational demands. Pay is $20-23/hr. The environment uses computer systems, scanners, labeling equipment, and packaging tools to process prescriptions efficiently. Team members follow established safety procedures, comply with departmental dress code guidelines, and maintain clean, organized workstations to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient operation.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.84 - $23.00/hr.
