Pharmacist Jobs in Connecticut
A Pharmacist plays a critical role in the pharmacy industry, ensuring patients receive the correct medications and understand how to use them safely and effectively. They review and interpret physician orders, detect potential medication interactions, dispense prescribed medications, and counsel patients on their proper usage and potential side effects. Additionally, they provide advice on healthy lifestyles, conduct health screenings, manage immunization programs, and oversee the work of pharmacy technicians and interns. Pharmacists often work in community pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, or they may work in research or the pharmaceutical industry.
Pharmacists are required to have a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited college or university. They must also pass two exams to become licensed: the North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX) and, in most states, the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam (MPJE). Important skills for a Pharmacist include strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to work with a diverse population, and the capacity to handle stressful situations. Prior to becoming a Pharmacist, individuals often work as Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Interns, or in related health care roles to gain practical experience in the field.
