Pharmacy Technician Jobs in Connecticut
A Pharmacy Technician is a frontline figure in the pharmacy industry, responsible for a variety of tasks to assist the pharmacist and ensure the efficient operation of the pharmacy. They are often involved in receiving and verifying prescriptions, preparing and dispensing medications, maintaining patient records, and performing inventory checks. Additionally, Pharmacy Technicians must be capable of providing excellent customer service as they frequently interact with patients, answering their questions and providing information about their prescriptions. They also liaise with healthcare providers and insurance companies to manage and resolve any issues related to prescriptions.
Although specific requirements can vary by state, most Pharmacy Technicians should have a high school diploma or equivalent, and many employers prefer candidates who have completed a post-secondary education program in pharmacy technology. They must also possess certain important skills, such as attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask. Many states require Pharmacy Technicians to be certified, which generally involves passing an exam, such as the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) or the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT). Before becoming a Pharmacy Technician, individuals may have held roles such as a pharmacy clerk, customer service associate, or medical assistant, thus gaining valuable experience in the healthcare industry.
